Calculator Compass ("we", "us", "our") operates calculatorcompass.com. This policy explains what information we collect when you use our service, how we use it, and your rights in relation to it.

Information we collect

Account information

If you create an account, we store your username, email address (optional), and a hashed password. We do not store your password in plain text.

Usage data

We record which calculators you create, save, and use. This helps us improve the platform and show relevant content. We also record search terms that return no results, to help us build calculators people are looking for.

Content you create

Calculators you create are stored on our servers. Public calculators are visible to all visitors. Private calculators are only accessible to you.

How we use your information

• To provide and improve the Calculator Compass service
• To personalise your experience (saved calculators, dashboard)
• To send in-app notifications about calculators you've created
• To detect and prevent abuse of our AI generation tools

We do not sell your personal data. We do not use your data for advertising.

Third-party services

We use the following third-party services in the course of providing Calculator Compass:

• Anthropic / OpenAI — AI models used to generate calculator content. Text prompts describing a calculator are sent to these services. We do not send personal account data to AI providers.
• Google Cloud Platform — our hosting infrastructure. Data is stored and processed on GCP servers.
• Google Fonts / Font Awesome — fonts and icons loaded from third-party CDNs. These may log your IP address per their own privacy policies.

Cookies and sessions

We use session cookies to keep you logged in. We use localStorage to remember your dark/light mode preference. We do not use tracking or advertising cookies.

Data retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your personal information is removed from our systems within 30 days. Calculators you've made public may be retained in anonymised form.

Your rights

You can access, correct, or delete your account information at any time via your profile settings. If you'd like to request a full export or deletion of your data, contact us at the address below.

We may update this policy from time to time. We will note the revision date at the top of this page when we do.
