Plan your remodel in the right order—across every surface

The Remodel Order-of-Operations Planner generates a step-by-step task sequence for multi-area remodeling (like bathrooms, kitchens, and basements) so you don’t accidentally do waterproofing, rough-in, or finishing out of dependency order. It’s designed for homeowners and project managers who want fewer change-orders and less rework when multiple trades touch the same surfaces.

Your schedule stays in five phases (with smart gate notes)

The global order is fixed: Demo → Moisture/Water Proofing → Rough-in → Install → Finish. Based on your selections (remodel type(s), surfaces, plumbing/electrical scope, and waterproofing system), the tool adds dependency notes and flags potential critical-path risks—especially where penetrations, curing windows, or “water-facing” finishes could be installed too early.

When waterproofing timing changes everything

If your plan includes wet wall/shower or wet floor surfaces, waterproofing becomes a true “gate” step: water-facing installations (tile/panels/trim on wet surfaces) should not proceed until the waterproofing coverage is complete and cured per product instructions. When plumbing/electrical scope is moderate or major, you also need to confirm sleeves and test/pressure checks before waterproofing to avoid reopening walls later.

Common sequencing mistakes this planner calls out

Be cautious if you choose “Sealant/caulk only” while also selecting wet walls or wet floors—those surfaces typically require more than spot sealing. If your schedule strictness is very low (strict), the planner increases urgency warnings around dwell/curing time so you don’t stack install immediately after waterproofing without verifying cure windows.

How the planner handles “not applicable” scopes

If your selected waterproofing type is effectively not required for the chosen surfaces, the tool will mark the Moisture/Water Proofing phase as not applicable (or sealant/spot treatments only) while keeping the overall five-step structure. If plumbing/electrical scope is “None,” rough-in notes are treated as skip/verify so you don’t plan unnecessary trade work.
