Short horizons (under ~6 months) tend to favor high-impact upgrades with low compatibility risk, because faster depreciation can make deferred parts obsolete. Longer horizons shift the plan toward platform-adjacent steps first, while delaying big-ticket purchases until closer to your target date. The calculator uses tier-based assumptions (not live prices or exact part compatibility), so it will lower confidence when your platform is set to “Unknown.”
