PC Component Compatibility Checker
Verify whether your selected PC components are compatible across socket, RAM, PCIe, cooler, and PSU categories before you buy or build.
Get a compatibility verdict before you buy
The PC Component Compatibility Checker compares your selected CPU, motherboard, RAM, GPU, cooler, and PSU across the most common “will it actually fit/work?” categories. It returns a clear verdict—Compatible, Compatible with warnings, or Incompatible—and a checklist of what to double-check before checkout or assembly.
How the checklist is generated (category-by-category)
The tool runs hard checks first: CPU vs motherboard socket, RAM generation/type matching, PCIe lane/generation fit expectations, cooler mounting/clearance, and required PSU power connectors. Then it applies softer checks and “gotchas” such as BIOS/feature dependency and whether RAM is running in an XMP/EXPO profile that may need enabling.
What counts as a warning vs a hard incompatibility
The biggest factor is whether a mismatch prevents physical installation or core electrical signaling (e.g., different socket, wrong RAM generation, missing required power connectors). If you’re off by something usually resolved in firmware or BIOS settings—like BIOS support uncertainty or running RAM at rated speeds via XMP/EXPO—the tool typically downgrades to “Compatible with warnings” instead of blocking you.
Common gotchas this tool is designed to catch
Look out for “Auto/Unknown” selections: the checker can’t confirm details, so it will reduce certainty and flag “needs review” style warnings. Also note that cooler clearance is based on simplified clearance inputs—case-specific fan/radiator layout can still create conflicts, especially with tall air coolers or front-mounted radiators.
Edge cases: when compatibility isn’t binary
If PCIe generation differs (e.g., GPU 5.0 with a 4.0 slot), the checker generally treats it as compatible but warns about reduced negotiated speed. If your motherboard support depends on BIOS version, the result becomes a warning unless you’ve selected a configuration the tool can confidently confirm as supported.
