Credit Card Points Value Calculator
Find out if your rewards credit card beats the annual fee and which redemption strategy earns you the most value.
Know Your Points Value—After the Annual Fee
This calculator estimates how many points you’ll earn from your travel, dining, and general spend, then converts those points into an estimated dollar value. It subtracts the annual fee to show your net annual rewards value, helping you decide whether the card is “worth keeping” for your specific spending mix.
From Your Spend to Net Value (Points → Dollars → Profit)
It annualizes each spend category (monthly spend × 12), then calculates points earned by applying your card’s earning rates by category. Next, it multiplies total points by your chosen redemption value (cents per point) to estimate the gross rewards dollar value. Finally, it subtracts the annual fee to produce net annual value (your estimated value vs. cost).
Why Your Result Can Be Higher or Lower Than Reality
The biggest driver is the cents-per-point you select—using an optimistic redemption estimate can make a card look better than it is. The calculator also assumes you consistently earn bonus points on all spend in the categories you enter and that you redeem at the same value every time. It excludes sign-up bonuses and other perks, so if those matter to you, the “net value” here may not reflect your full benefit.
Common Mistakes That Skew Cents-Per-Point Results
Don’t enter annual fee as a negative number—negative fees will break the logic. Also, avoid using a redemption value that you can’t reliably achieve (for example, transfer redemptions with variable award availability). If one of your spend categories is unusually high and your card wouldn’t actually earn bonus rates on the full amount, the tool may overstate your net value.
Quick Interpretations for “Borderline” and “Not Worth It” Outcomes
If net annual value is positive, the card is classified as “worth keeping.” If it’s near zero, expect a close call—small changes in redemption value, fees, or spending could flip the outcome. If net annual value is negative, the annual fee likely outweighs your estimated rewards value for your current spend pattern.
